FASO is thrilled to participate in this year's Giving Tuesday's The Panhandle Gives event! AMARILLO GLOBE NEWS REPORTS: ‘The Panhandle Gives’ to benefit 64 charities across the area for Giving Tuesday on 11/28 First comes Thanksgiving, followed by Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. But the Amarillo Area Foundation and others across the Texas Panhandle want to make sure residents don’t forget about Giving Tuesday. “Giving Tuesday is a great day for all of us to come together and pool our resources to help the nonprofits in our areas,” said Amy Lovell, director of development at AAF. In its second year, the goal for this year’s The Panhandle Gives event — the local Giving Tuesday campaign — is to raise awareness and to strengthen the 64 nonprofit organizations across the Texas Panhandle that will benefit this year. The list was finalized this week and announced on Wednesday. There are several ways residents can give to charities Nov. 28. Through thepanhandlegives.org, they can designate a specific charity or charities to donate to or they can donate to a general fund. All of the money donated to the undesignated fund will be allocated evenly between all of the charities, Lovell said. Additionally, residents may purchase a scantag at any United Supermarket, Amigos or Market Street location in Amarillo, Hereford or Dumas. They may also make a donation to any of the seven First United Bank locations throughout the Panhandle, including the three in Amarillo and one in Canyon. Giving Tuesday — unified globally on social media platforms using #GivingTuesday — will officially start at 9 a.m. with a kick-off proclamation at the First United Bank location at 1 First United Bank Parkway, off of Southwest 45th Avenue. Lovell said the goal is to raise as much money as possible Nov. 28, but every day is a good day to give. You can read the full article by the Amarillo Globe news by clicking HERE.
