FASO welcomes from Dallas Texas, Concert Organist,  Tim Effler to open FASO‘s 2016-2017 Concert Season, Sunday, September 18, 2016.

Tim Effler ImageTim Effler is in his 22nd year as Organist/Associate Director of Music at First United Methodist Church of Dallas Texas.  A native of Lyman, South Carolina, Tim holds a BMus degree in Organ Performance from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina and two Masters degrees in Vocal Performance and Accompanying/Vocal Coaching from Southern Methodist University. At Furman University he was a Furman Academic Scholar as well as the recipient of the Webber keyboard scholarship and the Lewis scholarship in organ. He served for three years as accompanist for the Furman Singers and Chamber Singers under Dr. Bingham Vick, Jr. and as accompanist/coach for the Furman Opera Theatre. At SMU, Tim received the Algur H. Meadows Assistantship in Accompanying and served as accompanist and Assistant Musical Director of the SMU Opera Theatre under Simon Sargon. He also served as accompanist for the SMU Choir and Choral Union under Dr. Lloyd Pfautsch.

 

As an organist he has played for numerous worship services of the North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. He has also performed at both regional and national conferences of the American Choral Directors Association. Tim has accompanied choirs on numerous European tours performing in such magnificent venues as St. Paul’s in London, Notre Dame and La Madeleine in Paris, the Salzburg Cathedral and St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna. In addition to his collaboration with choirs Tim has also performed solo organ recitals as well as concerts with the Dallas Symphony Brass and the Imperial Brass. He also enjoys collaboration with other instrumentalists as well, frequently performing pieces for organ and solo instruments such as flute, oboe, French horn and cello. Tim also enjoys being Dallas’ go-to graduation organist, performing annually for multiple graduation ceremonies in the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center on the wonderful Lay Family Organ (Fisk Opus 100).
